Trauma
Trauma can leave lasting effects on the mind and body, shaping how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD can develop after experiences of threat, loss, abuse, or chronic stress, leading to symptoms such as intrusive memories, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, or difficulties with trust and relationships. These responses are the brain and body’s way of trying to protect you after overwhelming experiences.
At Estela Psychiatry, we provide trauma-informed, compassionate care that recognizes both the depth of pain and the capacity for healing. We work collaboratively to help you regain safety, rebuild connection, and restore a sense of self. Treatment may include medication management, and referrals for trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR or somatic approaches. Whether you are processing a single event or the effects of prolonged trauma, our goal is to support your recovery and help you move toward a life grounded in stability, trust, and hope.
