Mara Sigalos-Rivera, MD
Dr. Rivera is a board-certified psychiatrist with clinical experience that includes treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, with particular interests in anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, and perinatal and reproductive mental health. She works closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that may include medication, lifestyle interventions, and psychotherapy to support overall wellness.
Dr. Rivera earned her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, graduating magna cum laude with a double major in Neuroscience and Spanish. She received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and awarded the Hilde Bruch Award for excellence in psychiatry. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Southern California/LA General program and served as Chief Resident with a focus on resident and medical student education. During training, she received focused experience caring for pregnant and postpartum individuals and worked closely with pediatric and OB-GYN teams in an integrated care model. Her psychotherapy training includes cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Dr. Rivera is board certified in psychiatry and holds a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International. She has also completed advanced training in perimenopausal mental health through The Menopause Society and incorporates integrative, holistic perspectives into her evidence-based care. Her practice is affirming, inclusive, and grounded in a social-justice–oriented philosophy, with a commitment to compassionate care for LGBTQ+ individuals and all patients.
Outside of work, Dr. Mara lives in her hometown of Austin, Texas, where she enjoys hiking, yoga, cooking, reading, and spending time with her young children and dog.
