Lisa Candilora, PMHNP
Lisa Candilora is a compassionate clinician committed to delivering thoughtful, individualized mental health care grounded in years of bedside nursing experience. She believes meaningful psychiatric care begins with truly listening, and approaches each patient with curiosity, warmth, and respect for the full complexity of their story. Her clinical interests center on women's mental health across the reproductive life span, including premenstrual mood disorders, perinatal anxiety and depression, and the hormonal transitions of perimenopause. She also treats a broad range of conditions in adults, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related disorders, and bipolar spectrum illness.
Lisa earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University, completing the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program with a 4.0 GPA. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies from Louisiana State University. Her undergraduate work in psychology and the humanities gave her an early appreciation for the interplay between biology, meaning, and lived experience that continues to shape her clinical lens today.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Lisa spent eight years as a registered nurse in some of the most demanding clinical environments in medicine, including the medical intensive care unit at Dell Seton Medical Center and perioperative care at Bailey Square Surgical Center in Austin. That experience taught her how to stay calm and present with patients during their most vulnerable moments, a skill she carries directly into her psychiatric practice. She completed her PMHNP clinical training at The Center for Child and Family Psychiatry, where she gained experience with comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy. Lisa is a Daisy Award recipient and was nominated for Nurse of the Year in 2021.
